March 2011 Manila: It took several months but the police in the law enforcement has questioned and arrested persons who were co-workers of working a the cyber thief Angelita Abad. Abad was an employee of .Jockey International's Licensee, Jockey GTVL Manufacturing Industries, Inc
An international investigation determined that mid level supervisors and employees at the GTVL Jockey Manila Philippines manufacturing plant had been linked to a major international money scam operating out the Jockey GTVL Manufacturing plant in the Philippines, the sole Jockey Licensee in India and Philippines for over 50 years. Victims of Internet Romance scams have become unwilling marks of the Philippine Jockey thieves. One USA victim lost over $15,000 (US) and close to $500,000 Pesos (pH) to the culprits. It has been discovered that the Angelita Abad internet thieves operated out of their offices at the Jockey plant using the plants computers, telephone and other international computer mediums to scam many other international victims. Also, most if not all were and are Jockey mid level managers at the GTVL Plant. The victims were "recruited" by Filipinos or Filipinas that lived in the respective countries via the Internet social websites such as Facebook.
The scam was uncovered in April 2010 as result of a confidential informant and old fashion intelligence gathering. Jockey International compliance office in Wisconsin seemed interested in the matter, however, shifted the responsibility to deal with their Manila manufacturing plant to their Licensee,Jockey Page industries in India.
The Cyber thieves used a myriad of social networking sites and email sites such as Facebook, Freindster, and MySpace. Yahoo was the email and chat communication site of choice but GMail was a close second with 1000s of text messages and emails used to gain the trust of their victims before starting to drain their bank accounts.Abad and company would plead for money for jobs search, housing, medical expenses, family and friends death , international travel for work, clothing, medicines, bill.
The victims were softened for months by a tag team of culprits such as Angelita Abad and others shown below before the draining of monies began. They used standard internet accessible "Romance Scam" letters, poems, responses to questions and script to gain the trust and learn more about each victim. They proved to be accomplished "criminal psychologists" by first exploring and then exploiting the emotional weaknesses of their victims. This was done while avoiding exposing anything about themselves that was truthful.Innocent looking photos that showed where they worked and played gave the victims a sense of security and a desire to open their wallets. The photo above was the first one sent via Facebook and sent to the USA victim.
GVTL Manufacturing Industries personnel were investigated and arrested were made. The international investigation is continuing.
